Cowes Week 2022
Cowes Week 2021, I managed to miss the best sailing days of Cowes.
Saturday: Start of Cowes week, ideal sailing conditions, just a pity I missed it due to other commitments.
Sunday: I arrived just in time to see the last boat head towards the moorings mainly because I wanted to listen to some friends performing at the main stage in Cowes.
Monday: Armed with my camera, I was just about to set of on the Monday when we had a three hour cloudburst at (Ventnor). Not even my waterproofs designed for the Welsh weather would have kept me dry.
Tuesday and Wednesday: The race was postponed on both days due to lack of wind.
Thursday: The conditions were perfect but that was the day I couldn’t make it because of doggie sitting for a friend and thus missed the racing.
Friday: All racing was cancelled thanks to too much wind.
But this year (2022) was a different story, the weather was excellent with only two days of light winds. Racing was postponed for a couple of hours. Each day was different as a different course was set for each class which meant us spectators got chance to see all the classes from the Green at Cowes. One of my favourites was the XOD (X One Design) class. Some boats almost a century old and all wooden hulls. A class of over 40 boats all competed for their title.
